The Office of Member of the Parliament Mohammad S. Yacob, Ph.D. One of the initiatives under MY LIFE program is educational assistance in aid of legislation, the Office of MP Yacob prioritize the marginalized youth to access education in order to create better opportunities in Bangsamoro and provide better guidance in career path, Hence the office of MP Yacob first launched MY LIFE educational assistance program in aid of legislation in 2019.
The educational assistance program aid to help the students lessen their educations’ financial burden and develop them into future leaders of the Bangsamoro region to lead the development of the society and communities, and for the span of three years, the said program already helped number of young moro students including some christian students. Some whom were in their undergraduate, master degree also doctorate degree.
In academic year 2022-2023, MY LIFE educational assistance program accepted new student applicants. in order for the student applicants to be accepted, Office MP Yacob have listed the number of qualification and requirements, students were instructed to submit their applications, then undergone in series of assessment and interview.
On the 5th of January 2023, at Mall of al Nor convention center in Cotabato City, the Office of MP Yacob conducted a general orientation for the students in aid of legislation, MP Yacob lead the program, this was participated by all student’s assistance grantees and staff of MP Yacob,
MP Mohammad Yacob explained that MY LIFE is a flagship program of his office in aid of legislation to help marginalized young individuals who wish to continue with their studies, hoping that this program molds future leaders of the Bangsamoro Region.
“This program aims to help develop future leaders that will serve the Bangsamoro communities because we believe that a leader equipped with knowledge and skills can serve the community better.” MP Yacob said.
During the general orientation, the activity also let the students showcase their research skills through a bill drafting competition, in which the office required them to present during the event. The students were also given a chance to promote their cultural representation by wearing their cultural attire during the event. the students from different colleges and university were in group of three, and each group were given a chance to present a bill. MP Yacob was surprise that the young generation in their small capacity as a student have come up in such good bills that most likely could contribute into Bangsamoro region’s social, agricultural development including strengthening the Islamic faith in the region.
The MY LIFE program in aid of legislation, together with the staff of Office MP Mohammad S. Yacob Ph.D. have seen the importance of supporting the young generation, to keep the balance of the Bangsamoro region, its bureaucracy, and all aspects of developments in the region.
The office of MP Mohammad S. Yacob Ph.D. believe that to sustain the development in the Bangsamoro region, we also need to support our young generation to build their career in academia, as we believe that young people are also the best placed to lead this transformation, it is known world-wide that the youth are the ones with the most innovative ideas and energy to build a better society for the future of Bangsamoro.
