COTABATO CITY | JOINT COMMITTEE MEETING OF CAFAR & CBFM

MARCH 18, 2022 – The Committee on Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (CAFAR) headed by Hon. MP Mohammad S. Yacob, Ph.D. and the Committee of Budget Finance and Management (CBFM) chaired by Hon. MP Architect Edward Guerra has conducted a joint committee meeting on March 18, 2022, held at MAFAR Conference Hall, BGC, Cotabato City.

The meeting aims to deliberate the appropriation of funds to the proposed bill number 81 entitled “AN ACT PRIORITIZING ESTABLISHMENT OF THE BANGSAMORO AGRICULTURE AND FISHERIES TRAINING INSTITUTE” also known as BAFTI authored by MP Mohammad S. Yacob Ph.D.

MP Yacob proposed 34 million for the year one implementation of BAFTI and the following year will propose another budget to be included in Bangsamoro annual expenditure. However, the CBFM has only allocated 10 million as the initial budget to be taken from the budget of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR). The BAFTI proponent Minister Yacob agreed and so therefore it has been approved on a joint committee level the initial allocation for the said bill.

MP Yacob is optimistic that the said bill will be passed and approved in the Parliament in the next regular session of the Bangsamoro Parliament.
