Yacob, Ph.D. delivered his sponsorship speech on the Proposed Bill No. 39 entitled β€œπ‘¨π’ 𝑨𝒄𝒕 π‘¬π’”π’•π’‚π’ƒπ’π’Šπ’”π’‰π’Šπ’π’ˆ 𝒕𝒉𝒆 π‘©π’‚π’π’ˆπ’”π’‚π’Žπ’π’“π’ π‘¨π’ˆπ’“π’Šπ’„π’–π’π’•π’–π’“π’† 𝒂𝒏𝒅 π‘­π’Šπ’”π’‰π’†π’“π’Šπ’†π’” π‘»π’“π’‚π’Šπ’π’Šπ’π’ˆ π‘°π’π’”π’•π’Šπ’•π’–π’•π’†β€ also known as BAFTI during the First Regular Session of the BTA today, January 17, 2023.

The bill aims to establish Bangsamoro Agriculture and Fisheries Training Institute Office in key areas of the Bangsamoro territory and shall spearhead the planning, monitoring, and implementation of the provision of training and other extension services to Bangsamoro farmers and fisherfolk.

MP Yacob, in his sponsorship speech, reiterates the need to support and invest in agriculture and fisheries by providing this sound legislation.

β€œThe situation in the field is very far from our current goal; our farmers and fisher folks are not very well trained with the current literature and scientific progress of farming and fishing due to lack of opportunity or lack of awareness of how vital it is to their livelihood.” MP Yacob said.

β€œLet us invest in agriculture and fisheries by providing proper training to our farmers and fisher folks to make this vital enterprise profitable and encourage new blood; let us give them support so that our country can achieve its goal of being food sufficient.” He added.

MP Yacob ends his speech by hoping that the Members of the Parliament that were present during the session will take the correct step today for our farmers to have a brighter future by giving them the proper attention, assistance, and investment that they deserve.

The said bill was referred to the Committee of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform for further scrutinization.
